Therapeutic Approach

As a therapist, I integrate several evidence-based therapeutic modalities to create a personalized approach for each client. My integrative practice draws from these approaches based on your unique needs and goals. I believe in tailoring therapy to each client, combining elements from different modalities to create the most effective path to healing and growth for you and your loved ones.
Here's a brief overview of the primary theoretical frameworks that inform my practice:
Person-Centered Therapy
Based on the belief that each person has the capacity for growth and self-understanding, this approach creates a supportive, non-judgmental environment where you can explore your experiences freely. I provide empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity to help you discover your own solutions and path forward.

Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT)
EFT helps you connect with, understand, and transform your emotions rather than avoiding them. Emotion-Focused Therapy for couples helps partners recognize and transform the negative interaction patterns that create distance and conflict in their relationship. We'll work together to identify core emotional patterns, access deeper feelings that may be driving distress, and develop healthier ways to process emotions. This approach is particularly effective for relationship issues, trauma, and emotional regulation challenges. By learning to listen to the wisdom of your emotions, you can create more fulfilling relationships and a deeper connection with yourself.

Schema Therapy
Schema therapy addresses long-standing patterns or "schemas" that developed early in life and can lead to self-defeating thoughts and behaviors. Together, we'll identify these deep-rooted patterns, understand their origins, and develop strategies to meet your core emotional needs in healthier ways. This integrative approach is especially helpful for persistent problems that haven't responded to other treatments, including relationship difficulties, chronic depression, and personality-related challenges.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
CBT focuses on identifying and changing unhelpful thought patterns that influence emotions and behaviors. Together, we'll explore how your thoughts impact your feelings and actions, developing practical strategies to challenge negative thinking and build healthier cognitive habits. This approach is particularly effective for anxiety, depression, and stress management.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy
Incorporating mindfulness practices into therapy helps you develop present-moment awareness without judgment. This approach teaches you to observe thoughts and feelings with compassion rather than becoming overwhelmed by them. Through mindfulness skills, you'll learn to respond rather than react to difficult situations, reduce stress, and cultivate greater peace and clarity. Mindfulness-based approaches are effective for anxiety, depression, chronic pain, and enhancing overall well-being.

Gottman Method Couples Therapy
Based on over 40 years of research by Drs. John and Julie Gottman, this evidence-based approach helps couples strengthen their relationships through improved communication, conflict management, and emotional connection. We'll work to build what the Gottmans call "The Sound Relationship House," focusing on enhancing friendship, managing conflict constructively, and creating shared meaning. This method is particularly effective for couples experiencing communication difficulties, emotional distance, or specific relationship challenges.

Family Systems Therapy
This approach views individuals in the context of their family relationships and larger social networks. Rather than focusing solely on individual symptoms, we explore patterns of interaction within your family system. By understanding these dynamics, we can work to improve communication, resolve conflicts, and create healthier boundaries and relationships. Family systems therapy is valuable for addressing family conflicts, parenting challenges, life transitions, and individual issues that are influenced by family dynamics.
